Ian Atkins is the latest name being linked with the vacant manager's role at Walsall following Kevin Broadhurst's exit this week.

The ex-Carlisle boss has recently taken charge at Torquay until the end of the season in an attempt to keep the Gulls in the Football League.

Atkins though is based in the Midlands and has been mentioned as a possible target for Chairman Jeff Bonser, as the Saddlers prepare for life in League Two next season.

Atkins is expected to be offered the Torquay job if he helps them to avoid relegation, but an offer from the West Midlands may appeal more to the former Northampton and Oxford manager.
