Mark Kinsella says he is happy to take charge for the last two games but does not want the job on a permanent basis.
The Saddlers are stepping up their search for a new boss and Ian Atkins, who is currently with Torquay is being strongly linked with taking the role once the season is over.
Kinsella has also been mentioned but the Irishman says he is not interested.
"The chairman has asked me to take charge of the team for the final two games of the season and I'm happy and honoured to do so," Kinsella revealed.
"I thought other people would be before me in the queue, but Simon Osborn is needed as a player for these two games and it's important that Mick Halsall gets back to the youth team with the young lads needing to know who's getting contracts.
"But this is as a big a surprise to me as it is to anyone else and it will be a good experience for two weeks, but that's all."
