Coventry striker Andy Morrell has emerged as a summer target for Walsall, having been handed a free transfer.
The popular frontman has struggled to hold down a regular first team place for the Sky Blues this season and is keen to kick-start his career with a move.
Saddlers chief Richard Money has confirmed the forward's name has been discussed but concedes a deal is by no means imminent.
He told the Express & Star: "Andy Morrell has a great goalscoring record when he was at Wrexham and I'm sure a lot of clubs will be interested in a player like that.
"His name is one of the names that has been discussed, but we're not close to anything right now."
Sky Blues boss Micky Adams has refused to rule out the prospect of Morrell remaining at the club despite being made available for transfer.
