Walsall are set to be without experienced duo Jon Macken and Jimmy Walker for their crucial trip to fellow strugglers Scunthorpe.
Veteran striker Macken was forced off with a hamstring injury after just 37 minutes of Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat to Notts County while goalkeeper Walker was substituted at half-time nursing a similar problem.
Manager Dean Smith told the club's official website: "Having assessed both players we don't think they are as bad as first feared. They are both going for a scan which will tell us exactly how bad it is and then we'll be able to make a judgement on how long they will be out for.
"Obviously we don't want to be without them for too long but it gives an opportunity for other players to come in and stake their claims. It's important the likes of David Grof, George Bowerman, Will Grigg and Ryan Jarvis are ready to step up to the plate."
Smith has no other injury or suspension concerns going into the important clash, with the Saddlers just one place above Scunthorpe - who occupy the final relegation berth - by virtue of goal difference.
