Striker Martin Butler has left League One club Rotherham United to re-join the Saddlers on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old had been a key figure for the Millers since his arrival in 2003, and made 96 starts and scored 29 goals for the club. Rumours were linking him to possible moves to Southend and Chesterfield, however he has now decided to go back to the club where he first began his career.
Butler said: "I've been away a long time but it's nice to come home. I'm excited by the challenge here; from what I have heard this club is really going places and I want to be part of it. It's an exciting new era and I am looking forward being involved with a side that will be going all out for promotion."
He added: "The move also gives me a chance to show the Walsall supporters what they didn't see when I was here as a youngster."
Miller boss Alan Knill said: "In some ways I'm not surprised about his decision as it comes down to money at the end of the day. Martin also comes from around that area and I understand he is planning to have a house built in the area."
