Boothroyd backs out of Bamba bid

WatfordHornets boss Aidy Boothroyd has decided not to push through with a deal to sign Ivory Coast defender Soulamayne Bamba.

Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre has revealed that Watford boss no longer plans to take the talented youngster who impressed in training with the club.

The Hornets had agreed a deal for the player who has been in Beijing for the Olympics.

But after he returned to face Queen of the South, McIntyre revealed that the Championship side had changed their minds.

McIntyre said: "The transfer was agreed and for whatever reason only known by them they have decided to pull the plug on it.

"It was very disappointing but we move on.

"Bamba is a good player and he is back in our squad."
