Boss deals with Bangura

WatfordAidy Boothroyd says he has resolved the thorny issue of Al Bangura going on international duty without permission.

The Watford manager says he has drawn a line under the Sierra Leone midfielder's decision to disobey him and travel to Nigeria at the weekend.

Bangura made his international debut in his country's the 4-1 defeat to Nigeria - a match which they probably needed to win to stay in the World Cup qualifiers.

But Boothroyd told Sky Sports News: "I sat down and had a chat with Al and it has been dealt with internally.

"As far as I'm concerned that is the end of it. He's a young man who has made a mistake.

"We won't hit him over the head with it but I hope he won't do it again."

Boothroyd helped Bangura fight against deportation to his native country last winter after fleeing as a 15-year-old and the Vicarage Road boss hopes the 20-year-old has learnt his lesson.
