Tottenham Hotspur have launched a £2million bid for Watford Goalkeeper Scott Loach.

The England Under-21 international has been the subject of interest from a number of top clubs and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp sees Loach as the perfect back-up to first choice Heurelho Gomes as he looks to strengthen his goalkeeping options.

Redknapp has been persistently linked with a number of goalkeepers during the January transfer window and was initially looking to sign Portsmouth's Asmir Begovic but switched his attention to Loach after Stoke declared their interest in the Pompey stopper.

"I've been looking around for a back-up goalkeeper but at the moment we're not close to doing anything."

"We thought we had the kid from Portsmouth Begovic but he decided not to come."
