Hornets snub keeper offer

Watford have snubbed Tottenham's bid to sign highly-rated goalkeeper Scott Loach on loan with a view to a £2million summer transfer.

Reports on Monday claimed Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had made a cash offer for the England Under-21 international, who has attracted the interest of several top sides this transfer window. However the Watford Observer claims the offer from the north Londoners was a loan deal with a view to a permament transfer at the end of the season.

As a result the Hornets have turned down the proposal leaving Redknapp to continue his search for quality back-up for number one Heurelho Gomes after missing out on Portsmouth's Asmir Begovic.

He said: "I've been looking around for a back-up goalkeeper but at the moment we're not close to doing anything."

"We thought we had the kid from Portsmouth Begovic but he decided not to come."
