Bristol City boss Gary Johnson says he will not pursue his interest in Watford's Jon Harley when the loan window re-opens.

The former Fulham defender was heavily linked with a move to the Robins before the transfer window closed on Monday and there were suggestions Johnson would follow up his interest with an attempt to lure him on a temporary basis when the loan window reopens again.

However, the City boss says now he has landed winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce he is no longer interested in Harley.

He said on Sky Sports: "We had a list of left-sided players that we had been looking at for some time and Jon Harley was on that list.

"In the end we went for Campbell-Ryce instead and so that is the left-sided player we felt we needed after assessing the business side of all the options available.

"So, we were looking at Harley, but now that we've got Campbell-Ryce, we no longer need another left-sided player."
