Albion scout Rennes-Marseille showdown

Last Updated: Mon, 04 Nov 2013 11:43

West Brom scouts were in attendance to watch Rennes' clash against Marseille in France on Saturday checking out potential targets.

The Baggies had representatives watching the 1-1 draw in Rennes as the club continue to monitor top talent on the continent and identify potential January targets for boss Steve Clarke.

It is thought Albion were closely watching Rennes midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and former Aston Villa man Jean Makoun, while Jonathan Pitroipa is also someone who has caught the eye for Rennes this season.

Marseille stars Mathieu Valbuena and Jordan Ayew have both also been heavily linked with moves to the Premier League but would cost in excess of £6million so are unlikely to be realistic Albion targets.

Spurs and Chelsea also had scouts watching on, while there were representatives from Spanish side Sevilla and French Ligue 1 clubs Toulouse and Guingamp.
