Anelka will be success - Phillips

Crystal Palace striker Kevin Phillips believes Nicolas Anelka can prove to be a success at West Brom after a slow start.

Former Baggies striker Phillips will return to the Hawthorns for the first time as a player on Saturday as the newly promoted club continue their search for points.

Phillips is certain that the Frenchman will prove to be a top signing by boss Steve Clarke despite failing to find the back of the net so far.

The 34-year-old insists that if he continues to persevere he will get the rewards, and as such West Brom will be able to challenge for a European place again this season.

Phillips said: "Nicolas is a great talent.

"It's down to him as to how much he can achieve at the club.

"He is a player who will take his opportunities and chances if presented. We all know he has been a world-class player over his career.

"On his day he is as good as anyone you'll see but all strikers go through this patch - I've been through it enough times over my career - where you just feel that nothing is falling for you."
