Baggies manager Tony Mowbray is closing in on a move for Porto defender Marek Cech, according to reports.

Mowbray has been watching Sloviakian left-back Cech for the last couple of months and some reports suggest the player and his agent flew in for talks on Friday.

Cech, who has been capped 27 times by Slovakia, joined Porto in 2005 from Sparta Prague but has struggled to win a regular first-team place in the last two seasons.

His agent Juraj Venglos refused to confirm West Brom's interest but revealed that a decision is imminent on where Cech's future lies.

"Marek's future must be resolved soon," Venglos told the Birmingham Mail.

"Clubs have been keen but some lost interest because there were long periods of uncertainty. But there is still interest from one or two clubs.

"Porto will want a decision sometime soon and it would be in Marek's best interest if that was the case."
