Manager target Derek McInnes has ruled out a move to the Hawthorns by pledging his future to St Johnstone.

The former Baggies favourite has been heavily linked with the vacant West Brom post since the club began their search for a new boss when Tony Mowbray joined Celtic on a rolling 12-month contract last week.

Saints boss McInnes appeared to be the number one target but has conceded he sees his future with the newly-promoted Scottish Premier League club.

He told the Daily Record: "It's flattering to be linked with jobs but I see my immediate future here with St Johnstone. I'm still trying to get one or two new players in before we start back at training and I'm also trying to get something sorted with my own future.

"St Johnstone have been good to me and I'm grateful to the chairman Geoff Brown for giving me the opportunity. I'm looking forward to working with the squad and the challenges we have ahead of us in the SPL.

"It's important we get the squad ready for the new season and in terms of my own situation I've been trying to get things moved on. The chairman is a busy man at the moment, but hopefully it will get done in the next couple of weeks."

Cardiff City manger Dave Jones and Preston boss Alan Irvine have also been heavily linked with the Baggies job.
