West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster has been ruled out of Saturday's clash with Chelsea after undergoing "minor"groin surgery.

Foster, who took to Twitter today to defend the performance of England number one Joe Hart in Sweden last night, could be back in contention for the next Premier League game against Sunderland later this month.

Baggies manager Steve Clarke confirmed that Foster would not be rushed back into the first team having had a minor procedure in hospital last week.

Boaz Myhill deputised for Foster in last weekend's 2-1 victory at Wigan, and the Wales international will retain his place when the European champions visit the Hawthorns on Saturday.

Clarke also revealed that "one or two players" had picked up knocks while on international duty and are doubtful to face Chelsea.
