Greening wary of old boss

West BromJonathan Greening has warned his West Brom team-mates that former boss Gary Megson will have his Bolton side wound up to beat them.

The Baggies travel to the Reebok Stadium on Saturday looking for their first points of the new campaign and looking to bounce back from the Carling Cup defeat at League One Hartlepool on Tuesday. However, Greening is well aware that Wanderers chief Megson will be desperate to put one over his old club, having left under a cloud following his sacking at the hands of Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace in 2004.

Greening, who was signed from Middlesbrough by Megson, told the Bolton News: "He's going to wind his players up because he had a fall-out with Jeremy Peace - there's no love lost there. We have to be prepared for that and try and put a good performance in to try and win."

The former Manchester United man, who was also linked with a move to Wanderers last month in a potential swap deal involving Abdoulaye Meite, says he is personally on good terms with Megson, despite his failure to win over many people at the Hawthorns.

He added: "I got on well with Mego. I know a few people had problems with him but I thought he was okay.

"I know there's a few players who don't have a kind word to say about him, but it'll be nice to see him and hopefully take three points."
