The defender is due back at Albion later in the week and Mowbray is confident he will be fit to play against the Hammers a week on Saturday.
"Meite has had a scan," the Baggies boss said. "He had to join up with his national side but he will be back on Thursday.
"He'll have some treatment and we're hopeful he will be ready for the next game. It's still touch and go. It's a calf strain so we will wait and see how it heals.
Clement, meanwhile, is awaiting the results of a scan on his knee problem and Mowbray admits the centre-back could need an operation that could see him sit things out for a few months.
"Neil has got a problem with his knee," Mowbray added. "The best case scenario is he'll be back in the next week or so on the training pitch, working with the rest of the lads.
"The worst case is that he'll need an operation. Let's wait and see."
Elsewhere, James Morrison is also doubtful for Scotland's World Cup qualifiers with Macedonia and Iceland because of his knee injury.
