Olsson honoured to join Baggies

West BromNew signing Jonas Olsson says it's a 'big honour' to play for Albion and believes he is ready to make an impact in the Premier League.

Baggies boss Tony Mowbray landed the defender from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen a day before the transfer window closed after the 25-year-old completed a £800,000 switch to the Hawthorns.

Olsson says it was always his dream to play in the Premier League and thinks the time he's spent in the Dutch top flight has prepared him well for the challenge ahead.

"It's a big honour to sign for West Brom," he said. "In Sweden you grow up watching the Premier League on TV and it's always been a dream of mine to play here since I was little.

"Most players in Sweden are focusing on getting to the Premier League because it's their dream. I'm grateful to be here and am going to do everything I can to make the best out of it.

"I had three seasons in the Eredivisie and that league is all about focusing on development. Every side is focused on playing good football and it was good preparation for the Premier League."

Olsson also revealed there was plenty of interest in him from other clubs in England but he was determined to join the Baggies.

He added on the club's website: "There was a lot of interest from England in the spring and during pre-season but it was great when West Brom came in.

"I know this is a club with a great history and they have made some great signigns like Scott Carson and Gianni Zuiverloon."
