West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has been linked with a late swoop for QPR midfielder Joey Barton.
The R's are still counting the cost of relegation back to the Championship and a number of their highest paid players are being sold to balance the books.
Barton certainly falls into that category although he has been in good form since returning from a loan spell with Marseille.
Allardyce signed Barton whilst manager of Newcastle in 2007 and he is rumoured to be lining up a deal to bring him to Upton Park before Monday's transfer deadline.
However, a move isn't imminent given Barton started for QPR in their Championship clash at Leeds on Saturday lunchtime.
The 30-year-old has already turned down a move to Crystal Palace this summer while he has also been linked with a move to boyhood club Everton.
The Hammers need cover after losing Alou Diarra to a long-term knee injury.
