West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will hand a late check to striker Andy Carroll ahead of the clash at Southampton on Saturday.
The England frontman was not eligible to play against his parent club Liverpool last week, due to Premier League rules over loan players, but he was expected to come straight back into the side for the clash with the Saints this weekend.
He has picked up a virus that made him miss training in the week and he will face a late check - Carlton Cole will step in if Carrol does not make it - and the boss has admitted that the former did enough last week to keep his place, so he has to decide who to go with.
Another former Liverpool man, Joe Cole, has been carrying a hamstring injury and he too faces a late test whilst George McCartney has suffered a recurrence of his injury and is unlikely to feature, as well as Mark Noble, who still has a knock.
