West Ham are confident summer signing Andy Carroll will be fit for the start of the new season following a heel injury.
The striker, who completed a £15million move from Liverpool earlier this summer after impressing on loan for the Hammers last season, picked up the injury in May and there have been reports suggesting he could miss the first few weeks of the new campaign.
However, the Hammers expect the England international to be fit for when they kick-off at home against newly-promoted Cardiff City on August 17.
Carroll has been undergoing treatment for the injury over the summer and is set to prove his fitness by playing for Sam Allardyce's side in their upcoming pre-season friendlies in Germany against FC Mainz and Hamburg.
The forward did not feature in Saturday's first pre-season game when the Hammers beat Championship newcomers Bournemouth 2-0.
