Curbs closing on keeper - at last

West HamWest Ham are close to signing ex-Fulham keeper Jan Lastuvka from Shakhtar Donetsk to back up Robert Green.

The 26-year-old Czech international won a first-team shirt while on loan at Fulham two seasons ago, but moved back to Shakhtar last season.

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has been trying to sign the giant custodian for a fortnight but now looks set to land him after a fee was agreed and personal terms tied up.

He could make his Hammers debut in Friday's friendly at Southampton and is relishing a return to England.

"The offer from West Ham is there," Lastuvka told CTK.

"The club wants me and going back to the English league is definitely interesting and alluring."
