Curbs quits Hammers

West HamAlan Curbishley has resigned as West Ham United manager, according to reports.

Curbishley is believed to have quit Upton Park following reports he was unhappy at the sale of several players in the transfer window, with the departure of George McCartney to Sunderland said to be the final straw.

The former Charlton chief said following the sale of Anton Ferdinand to Sunderland that no other players would be leaving ahead of the window closing on Monday at midnight but McCartney was then subsequently offloaded to the Black Cats for £4.5million.

Former Hammers defender Slaven Bilic has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Curbishley at Upton Park.
