Ferdinand future in balance

West HamWest Ham have reportedly accepted Sunderland's bid of £8m for Anton Ferdinand but Spurs have re-entered the race for his signature.

Ferdinand refused a move to Newcastle earlier in the summer on the grounds that he wanted to stay closer to his native London so Sunderland are by no means assured of landing the player and Spurs are again said to be interested.

Ferdinand is reported to be in talks with the Black Cats but the opportunity to remain in the capital may be tempting should Spurs lodge a firm bid.

The 22-year-old has rejected a new deal at Upton Park, where he made his debut four years ago, and would appear to be on his way before the transfer window slams shut a week on Sunday.
