West Ham United co-owner David Gold believes that Andy Carroll could return to the starting line-up sooner than first thought.
The England striker had been expected to be out until possibly Christmas but that may now not be the case as Gold has confirmed that the injury is not long term
Gold claims that following consultations with experts around Europe and the US, the 24-year-old may now return "within weeks" which would be a massive boost for the club who have struggled for goals without him.
"We have spoken to specialists in America and Europe and have a complete understanding of what we are dealing with," Gold told SportsDirect News.
"There is much that can be done to solve the problem. Andy is doing well in his recovery programme. I am hopeful he will be back in action within weeks, not months."
