West Ham appear to have won the race to land left-back Timothee Kolodziejczak from Nice by beating Southampton to the punch.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce was after a new defender for the left side of his back line after allowing George McCartney to leave at the end of last season.
Reports in France say the 22-year-old Kolodziejczak, known as Kolo, is due in east London this week to hold talks with the Hammers and undergo a medical ahead of his move. He is expected to put pen to paper on a four-year deal.
Southampton had also been linked with the player but Allardyce appears to have won the race, meaning he will almost certainly end his interest in Norwich's Martin Olsson and Boca Juniors' Emanuel Insua who had both been tipped to sign on at Upton Park.
