Hammers close in on double deal

Last Updated: Fri, 31 Jan 2014 13:57

West Ham are thought to be trying to seal deals for Napoli defender Pablo Armero and Olympiakos forward Kostas Mitroglu before 11pm.

Reports in Italy claim the Hammers are close to agreeing a loan move for Colombian full-back Armero, who is waiting on a visa in order to make a Premier League switch.

The 27-year-old is understood to have already undergone a medical at Upton Park, although attempts to finalise the deal may go right to the wire.

Meanwhile, West Ham are believed to be in the running to sign Greek international striker Mitroglu, who had seemed to be heading to Fulham earlier in the week.

Neil MacDonald, who addressed Friday morning's press conference, was coy on the Mitroglu interest, but added: "We're still looking to try and improve. I think we've added to the squad excellent so far this window and if we can get anyone else in it will be a bonus."
