West Ham are closing in on the capture of Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero in a £3m deal from Mexican club Morelia.
The Hammers look set to beat Everton to his signature after offering the amount needed to trigger his release clause and the 23-year-old is expected in London this week to try and seal the deal.
Roberto Martinez, the new Everton manager, came close to signing him for Wigan Athletic in January when he was in charge there and the Spaniard had hoped to revive the deal at Goodison Park.
However, it seems Sam Allardyce has won the race for Montero, who will reportedly be offered a lucrative £30,000 a-week contract over four years at Upton Park.
Montero has played for Ecuador more than 25 times and is a player who has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs for the past 12 months.
