West Ham are ready to scupper West Brom's bid to sign Salomon Kalou by gazumping the Baggies offer for the striker.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is a long-term admirer of the former Chelsea striker and the news this week that Lille could be ready to part with Kalou has inspired him to renew his interest.
West Brom were thought to be leading the race to sign the Ivory Coast international after agreeing to meet his £3million release clause.
However, Albion are thought to be struggling to come to an agreement on Kalou's wages, which are in the region of £70,000-per-week at the moment.
While the 27-year-old is open to taking a wage cut to move back to the Premier League, the Baggies are still unable to match his demands, leaving the way clear for West Ham to swoop in.
Reports from the Black Country suggest the Hammers are prepared to better whatever West Brom have offered Kalou and are confident he would rather move back to London as opposed to the midlands.
