Hammers face battle for midfielder

Last Updated: Tue, 19 Aug 2014 10:49

West Ham have agreed a fee with Marseille midfielder Morgan Amalfitano but the player has rejected the club's first contract offer.

Sam Allardyce is in a race to sign the attacking midfielder, who is also wanted by QPR, and was spotted at Loftus Road last Saturday, and both clubs have an offer on the table for the player.

The Hammers are expected to make a second offer for the 29-year-old, who is also wanted by Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Hull in the Premier League, while French newspaper L'Equipe claims his former club Lorient have contacted Marseille over the possibility of signing the Nice-born playmaker, who was on loan at West Brom last season.
