West Ham face a major battle to land Holland international Eljero Elia who is said to be one of their summer targets.
Sam Allardyce is said to be lining up a move for the 26-year-old who has shone for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga this season, although until Allardyce's own future is sorted out with West Ham transfer targets may take a back seat.
That could lead to Liverpool making a move for a player who they have been watching for the past couple of years since he was playing with Hamburg.
Elia then made an unsuccessful move to Juventus before returning to Germany with Werder Bremen last summer.
According to reports in Russia, CSKA Moscow are also preparing a bid for the midfielder so it could be a three-way battle for his signature.
