Hammers look to defender

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is going to have to move quickly if he is to land Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate.

Reports in Spain claim that both Sevilla and Valencia are keen to land the player and have already opened talks about a move.

Allardyce is keen to strengthen his West Ham squad in all areas but he will have to be quick off the mark as Kouyate's agent, Saffet Balkan, admits his player is keeping all his options open and will wait for the right offer to come along.

Balkan, speaking in Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo, said: "Kouyate is going to play for a big team in Europe. Spanish teams have shown interest in wanting to sign him but there is nothing further."
