West Ham are on the verge of landing former Premier league hitman Nicolas Anelka, who looks set for a switch back to England.

The former Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal star has been in China at Shenghai Shenua since last January when he left Stamford Bridge after a bust up with the-then boss Andre Villas-Boas.

He has failed to settle in China, according to reports, where he earns £250,000 and is the player assistant manager at the club, and is now set for yet another move.

Anelka may fancy a return to the Premier League to team up again with Sam Allardyce with whom he enjoyed a successful partnership at Bolton. Allardyce is still looking to strengthen his side despite a strong start to the season.
