Lack of goals continues to plague boss

After yet another goalless afternoon on Saturday West Ham boss Sam Allardyce was left ruing several wasted opportunities.

West Ham have not got the worst scoring record in the Premier League, Norwich and Crystal Palace share that with just six goals each, but it's not far off with just eight this season and Allardyce knows they need to improve.

"We haven't had a frontman with Andy (Carroll) or Carlton (Cole)," he said. "You don't make the signing of a £13m forward (Carroll) and not think it is going to make a difference because it does. We have got to get him fit.

"Modibo Maiga has had his opportunities, but unfortunately he has had so many and has not scored you have to take him out of the team, because he has been bought for that reason and if he is not doing it you have to try something else."

Meanwhile Hammers youngster Elliot Lee scored a 90th minute equaliser for his loan club Colchester at Rotherham on Saturday.
