West Ham have yet to decide on a possible new deal for Carlton Cole after he played in a friendly on Thursday.
With no match this weekend due to international commitments West Ham organised a friendly with south London rivals Charlton but came unstuck and lost 4-2.
The match was an opportunity for former striker Cole to earn a new deal at the club as they need to add some firepower up front but whether he did enough to win a new contract remains to be seen.
In the match itself, West Ham took the lead through Mladen Petric but their opponents scored three times to take control before George Moncur pulled one back, although Charlton added a fourth goal to seal the friendly win.
