Skipper sorry for sending off

West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan has apologised to the club's fans for his red card at Liverpool last Saturday.

The under-fire former Bolton and Newcastle star will now miss this weekend's all-important clash with Sunderland followed by the Capital One Cup quarter-final with Tottenham and the trip to Old Trafford the weekend after.

Nolan, speaking at a season ticket holders forum at Upton Park on Tuesday night, revealed that he had also apologised to his team-mates.

He said: "It was a silly tackle and stupid of me. I'm really disappointed in myself but I am sorry for that, I apologised to all the lads as well. I'll be working hard on the training ground. I'm certainly not getting away with it.

"I'll be in on Wednesday while all the other lads are off.

"Hopefully the lads can get the right results without me and I can come in and add some goals and some better performances."
