West Ham look to have failed in their attempts to lure Ivory Coast hitman Wilfried Bony to the club.
The Eredivisie's top scorer with 18 goals is a wanted man and the Hammers are not alone in wanting to land him as Newcastle, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been linked but all look likely to miss out as he wants to move to Russia.
The Russian transfer window remains open until the end of the month and the Vitesse Arnhem striker has confirmed he would like to make the switch before it closes so the chances of Sam Allardyce landing him look slim at best.
He told Voetbal International: "I hope to leave this winter. My wishes have not changed. Yes, the market is not in open in Russia for much longer.
"But what can I do? I can only work and wait. I hope that one chance emerges."
