Time running out for Noble

After missing out on Roy Hodgson's England team in midweek, West Ham co-owner David Gold admits Mark Noble is unlikely to go to Brazil.

Hammers fans have been calling for Noble to be part of the England manager's plans after an exceptional season for Sam Allardyce's men in difficult circumstances, but it has not happened.

Gold is not giving up hope that he might yet make the squad for the trip to Brazil but he admits it is beginning to look unlikely despite his efforts for the Hammers.

Gold told Football Direct:"Mark has been quite outstanding all season.

"I think he's been unlucky in that he's only managed a couple of goals. Were there three or four more beside his name it might have been a different story.

"But his general play in the middle of the park could hardly be faulted. He's been brilliant and of course we are all bitterly upset he wasn't involved in the England manager's squad against Denmark.

"I'm starting to feel that he might have missed out but it's not over until it's over and everybody's fingers are still crossed."
