Blades reject Latics raid talk

WiganSheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has dismissed links with Wigan midfielder Michael Brown on financial grounds.

The Blades were touted for a raid on the JJB for the combative former Spurs and Fulham star but Blackwell insists the 31-year-old's wage demands are too big for a Championship club.

He told the Evening Post: "We haven't had a dabble with Michael. He's a Premier League player on big, big wages."

Brown made his name with the Blades before leaving for White Hart Lane in 2004 and then signed for the Cottagers two years later.
