Catt almost in the bag

Wigan are set to complete the formalities of signing Lee Cattermole from Middlesbrough for £3.5m early this week.

JJB chief Steve Bruce is poised to land his fifth signing of the summer following earlier moves for Daniel de Ridder, Olivier Kapo, Amr Zaki and Maynor Figueroa.

Cattermole, 20, could arrive as a replacement for Michael Brown who was linked with a switch to Premier League new boys Stoke over the weekend.

Winger David Cotterill is also set to leave Latics as he closes in on a permanent move to former loan club Sheffield United.
