Hull are waiting for Wigan striker Marlon King to agree a severance package with Latics but the Tigers do not want Ryan Taylor.
KC Stadium boss Phil Brown is keen on signing King who must sort out his JJB exit terms before he can undergo a medical, while a club-record bid for an unnamed target is also thought to be in the pipeline for the Premier League new boys.
However, Brown has ruled out a move for Taylor and Paris Saint-Germain striker Pascal Pancrate, while he has also confirmed he will not rush into signing anybody just because the new campaign is looming.
"There's still two or three that we need to bring in but we're not going to panic" said Brown.
