Wigan and Celtic are understood to be monitoring Andre Carvalhas - a winger at Portuguese second division side Naval.

Celtic chief scout John Park has had the 23-year-old watched several times in recent weeks while Wigan are reported to have also shown an interest.

Carvalhas, who has scored seven goals this season, will be out of contract in the summer and could move for free.

Serie A clubs Palermo and Siena have also expressed an interest in him, as have Greek outfit Panionios.

Carvalhas, who came through the youth ranks of Benfica, said: "I have had a good season and perhaps this summer is the moment for me to try a new challenge outside of Portugal.

"I am waiting to see what happens but I have decided that I now want to accept a new challenge."
