Wigan are keeping tabs on Rayo Vallecano striker Leo Baptistao after sending scouts to watch the player in action on Monday night.
The Brazilian has impressed in the Vallecano side this season after netting six goals in 17 appearances and Wigan are among the clubs showing an interest in the 22-year-old.
Baptistao has stepped into the boots of Michu, who left Vallecano to join Swansea in the summer, but there is every chance he too could be heading to the Premier League.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez has good connections in Spain but he would face strong competition for his services as Manchester United and Liverpool are also keen.
Wigan were in attendance as Vallecano defeated Getafe 3-1 and although the striker did not score, he impressed and set up the third goal.
