Wigan have handed a trial to highly-rated Airdrie United striker Ryan Donnelly.
The 20-year-old has impressed north of the border and after receiving favourable scouting reports, Latics boss Roberto Martinez was keen to take a closer look.
Donnelly has fired home 25 goals in 33 appearances for Airdrie in the Scottish 2nd Division this season and he is tipped to have a bright future in games.
Martinez has yet to comment but Airdrie boss Jimmy Boil says the youngster has done well during his time at the club.
"Wigan spoke to us and we had no problem with Ryan going down for the week," he told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser. "It will be a good experience for the boy. He's played a bounce game down there and did fine. He's enjoying it.
"He has had a very good season and it's great for him to see this level as that is where he wants to get to. Hopefully he will continue to work hard and get to where he wants to be."
