Roberto Martinez says his squad is getting stronger by the day and that can only serve Wigan well as they battle to beat the drop.
Latics have had a number of setbacks this season with Martinez losing key players to injury but the treatment room is starting to empty at just the right time.
Antolin Alcaraz is not far away from a return, while Ryo Miyaichi and Albert Crusat should also be knocking on the first-team door sooner rather than later.
They will be needed as well following another defeat against Chelsea at the weekend but Martinez was happy with the character shown.
"We never lost our true identity and confirmed the belief that we can take on any team in the Premier League home or away and compete," he revealed.
"For long spells we made things very difficult for Chelsea, creating enough threat to earn a positive result.
"The group is getting stronger, players are coming back from injury and that competitive edge is increasing to make sure we go into the final third of the season looking as strong as possible."
Arouna Kone is also back from the African Nations Cup and will be a huge player for Wigan as soon as he settles back into Premier League life.
