Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has admitted that he will have to enter the January transfer window in order to improve his squad.
The former Swansea manager has found himself a striker short since Marlon King was sent to jail for 18 months and subsequently sacked. while the rumours of Maynor Figueroa joining Sunderland in the New Year continue to persist.
The Latics have have been linked with moves for St Johnstone's Collin Samuel, AZ Alkmaar's Moussa Dembele and full-back Johnny Palacios, younger brother of Wilson.
While Martinez failed to mention any names he did state that the club will invest in some new players, although the Spaniard said he wouldn't spend over the odds to improve the squad.
"We need to strengthen, as we have lost a player and cannot leave ourselves open," Martinez told Wigan Today.
"We know our budget, the money we have to spend - but it is not just about that.
"It is about finding the right players and personalities. We will work on different markets to try to make things happen."
