Roberto Martinez has reassured Wigan he is completely committed to the club and has dismissed reports he could take over at Espanyol.

The Latics boss has been linked in the Spanish media as a possible candidate to take over as Espanyol boss as they struggle in 14th place in La Liga this term.

However, Martinez has rejected the rumours out of hand and insists he has a long-term project at the DW Stadium and he is concentrating solely on keeping Wigan in the Premier League.

"We need to take any rumours as a compliment to Wigan," said Martinez in the Daily Star.

"But we will not let them distract us from what we are trying to do.

"The next 12 weeks are the most important 12 weeks for Wigan, as regards to building a platform to allow us to move to the next level.

"My focus is totally on the next 12 weeks."
