Roberto Martinez believes Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie at Macclesfield will be something of a trip down memory lane for Wigan.
Martinez remembers only too well travelling to grounds like Moss Rose on a regular basis with the Latics after moving to England from Spanish side CF Balaguer.
His role may have changed since then, after swapping the pitch for the dugout, but matches like this only act as a timely reminder of the remarkable progress the club have made in a relatively short period of time.
Martinez is certainly wary of taking Macclesfield lightly despite their relegation from the Football League last season and he has warned his players to expect nothing less than a full-blooded clash at the home of the Blue Square Bet Premier side.
Cardiff found out to their cost in the last round the danger of underestimated the Silkmen after the Championship leaders found themselves out of the competition as a result of two late goals.
The Spaniard said: "There is going to be a lot of passion in the Moss Rose ground on Saturday and it is going to be a typical FA Cup tie.
"Divisional status is not an issue in the FA Cup or any cup for that matter and as we've seen against Cardiff City in the last round.
"We're going to have over 2,000 of our fans filling a third of the ground which makes it even more significant for us and in many ways it is a blast from the past for some of our supporters that have been following the club since our days in the lower divisions.
"We are really looking forward to the game and we want to progress to the fifth round."
