Roberto Martinez is hoping new boys Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno can add fresh firepower up front against Sunderland this weekend.

Moses and Moreno joined Latics with the January transfer window close to being slammed shut earlier this week and then watched as Martinez's side were humiliatingly dumped out of the FA Cup by League Two outfit Notts County at the DW Stadium.

But now the boss is ready to turn to the new arrivals as he looks for goals and a win against the Black Cats when the Premier League resumes.

He told the Evening Post: "The two new signings will give us better competition up front. And it is clear to see we have been very low on confidence in front of goal this season.

"If you look at the chances we missed on Tuesday night, and the chances we missed on Saturday, we need to be scoring goals when we create such good opportunities."
