It's understood that Manchester United could offer Nani as part of the deal to sign winger Antonio Valencia from Wigan this summer.
Reports suggest Sir Alex Ferguson will throw in the Portugal international into the transfer package in order to reduce the amount he has to pay for Ecuador star Valencia.
Latics chairman Dave Whelan insisted earlier this week that Valencia will have the final say on where he goes, but Nani's inclusion in any deal may persuade Wigan to sell him to the champions.
United, Real Madrid and another unnamed club are battling it out for the 23-year-old, with Latics willing to sell him for around £18million.
